How to use the Extract Audio function in Vordio app. I’ve found this to be a great way to prepare for editing video in REAPER. You can use this function without limitation in the free/demo version of Vordio.

In this example I’m preparing about 20 videos shot on iPhone to use in a Vlog. They’re a mix of front and rear camera, 720 and 1080p, normal and timelapse.

1 – Download and install Vordio app from http://vordio.net
2 – Open “Extract Audio” tab
3 – In top section, drag in your source video files or folder containing video files.
4 – choose folder to save new WAV files into.
Tip – you can drag a folder to this path box
5 – Click “Extract” to start the batch process.
6 – A wav file will be created for any video file containing audio, and skip any file without (ex – timelapses).
FFMPEG is required for this to work, if FFMPEG is not found by Vordio try setting the path in the “Settings” tab. A compatible version is linked on this tab should you need to download it.

After extracting, the video and audio files can be dropped into REAPER. It’s a good idea to disable the original audio stream from the videos. Right-click the video, choose “source properties”, check “ignore audio”, then click “copy audio settings to all video sources”.

Another use for Vordio is with audio restoration. In the past I’ve needed to extract audio from security camera footage before cleaning up.
