It’s not cool to have the same ringtone as everyone else. All I’ve ever wanted is my phone to goat scream at me. Here’s how to make a custom alert sound for your iOS device.
TLDR;
- download a sound as WAV format
- edit sound in REAPER to loop no longer than 40 seconds
- (Mac only) render as MPEG-4 Audio, then change file extension to .m4r
- (Windows) render as WAV, import into iTunes, convert to AAC format, then change extension to .m4r
- With iphone connected to iTunes, go to tones tab, drag in your custom sound
- enable the sound in the phone settings
