On the REAPER forum last week Jae Thomas had an interesting question about alternate volume levels for a mix and how to quickly A/B compare.

Let’s say you have a pretty good mix but you want to hear the vocals more, how can you make a change that is easy to undo later, what if it was multiple elements changing, etc.

I had some suggestions as well as other forum members so in this video I’ll quickly go through your options for this situation.

One of the best options for this is the Trim Volume Envelope lane which is often overlooked, but was added to REAPER back in 5.20 for exactly this purpose.
