Why does it say sometimes say OFFLINE on your items in REAPER and how do you stop it?
This is not for files that are actually missing, which is a different problem.

One of the default settings in REAPER is to let media items to go offline while REAPER is inactive. This allows for destructive editing in other apps, and quicker updating when returning to REAPER. But if you never do that it can be frustrating or alarming for new users to see OFFLINE on all your items.

Preferences – Media
[ ] Set media offline when application is not active

My opinion is that it’s a weird default and better to keep unchecked for most users, especially if you never use external editors. (what’s that?)

If your editing time is split between REAPER and external editors, then keeping this option enabled can save some time and manual steps.
