In this video I explain my approach to importing, processing, and exporting field recordings for my personal sound library.

“Field recording” to me means capturing sounds outside of a controlled studio environment with a portable recording system.

Mastering for field recording is a general clean up process to balance stereo channels, and remove extraneous noise. As these sounds are not likely to be heard on their own, the goal is to get them ready for use in post-production.

Thanks for the excellent tutorial since I do some soundscape capture. But why do the waveforms look different than usual? I.E., long strings, not jagged waves, and in various color blocks?

I have the new spectral peaks option enabled, that changes the color based on dominant frequency.
