EQ is the number 1 tool you’ll use in a mix ReaEQ is a logical choice for REAPER users. Here are seven quick tips for using ReaEQ more effectively and creatively.

1. dedicated action to insert or show/hide ReaEQ
2. resize big or small as you want and hide tabs. Save as the default preset
3. with a narrow bandpass filter and LFO we can have a tempo-synched autowah effect
4. change the LFO to an audio control signal for an envelope filter effect
5. create a telephone or small speaker effect with a high-pass, low-pass and narrow bell
6. use a resonant high-pass for a controlled low end boost
7. steeper filters by doubling

Coming up next I’ll have a showcase of ReaScripts made by MPL which do some really awesome things with ReaEQ.

Excellent tips! There’s always something to learn so I appreciate the ‘quick tips’ to plant the seed on production ideas.

Tip 2 is really useful – thanks. I noticed the other day that the Luftikus EQ has a feature where it automatically compensates the volume with eq changes. Is it possible to do this with ReaEQ?

not with ReaEQ. I’ve also seen it in other EQs like Toneboosters EQv3 and v4, and TDR Nova.

Since the new update i have noticed something wrong with reaeq. E.g take a signal maybe pink noise at -6 th make a leopard and have it low on the spectrum, maybe at 20/30Hz if you switch between the lowlands and highpads you get a signal spike that’s loud enough to mute the channel. I have said as much on reaper forum but I don’t think anyone has taken note

      I can confirm this happens.

Thank you, I have posted about this on Reaper Forum Twice now with barely any response. One other chap can confirm this. I honestly don’t remember it happening before the last update.

in actual use is it a problem? It’s undesirable but I don’t think people will encounter this unless they’re looking for the bug.

Well sometimes I like to listen to the low end using a low pass to hear what’s down there before I switch to a high pass. It’s not really a big deal but it’s a big jump in signal. E.g if you didn’t have the safety mute channel feature activated then you could get a blast.

That’s fair, I’d probably run into that with MPL’s solo reaEQ band script. I’ll give your bug report a bump if I can find it
