I try very hard to not work over 1 1/2 hours at a time without taking a break. Usually I take a 15 min break after an hour of work.
I started doing this after my wife walk in once and told me I had been working for 3 hours…and I thought I had only been working for an hour. LOL.
I do this when I really need to get through something on a deadline. I used to have timers for 5 minute breaks and 25 minutes of work. During the 5 min break I might just sit in silence. I think that works for editing, data entry, writing stuff. But for mixing it’s too many interruptions of flow.
This is kind of nitpicky, but at the moment, ReaComp’s knee size is just a bit different from what you described. The knee actually “spreads around” the threshold so that if you have threshold at -12 and knee at 12, you’ll start to get some compression at -18 (not -24), but won’t get to full ratio until -6. This actually causes some weird stuff to happen at certain settings. There’s a fix on the way, but for now, this is how it works.
