I’ve just updated the REAPERBLOG Video Tools Course with a new bonus tutorial on text reveal effects. This tutorial was suggested by one of my students.

And in case you missed it, in February I added a bonus video on manual motion tracking / camera movement to the course.

To my students – log in and check out the new videos!

I’m pulling my hair out trying to figure out a single “effect”; I don’t even know what to call it.

The end result I want is like this: My video plays until a specific frame, then pauses on that single frame for some length of time (5 seconds, 10 seconds, something like that), and after that time it continues on with the video from the very next frame.

I can do it in Windows Movie Maker 🙂 by splitting the video, snapping a screenshot of the last frame, pasting that screenshot as a jpg into the editor, and stretching the jpg for however long I want to. When I try to do this in Reaper, there is always a blank 1 second frame between the end of the video and the start of the jpg.

    Any advise?
    Thanks!

      “Freeze frame effect”
split that one frame. Double-click the item and set its playrate to 0. It’s now effectively a still image that can be extended for any length.
