In this video I’m explaining what I went through to create an usable drum sampler from an old, cheap drum machine, with more features and better sound than the original hardware.

With the tips and information in this video, and the resources linked below, you should be able to make your own Decent Sampler library too. I made a lot of mistakes that made it harder, which you can now avoid.

Decent Sampler is a sampling platform similar to KONTAKT, and ESX24, but free and accessible to everyone to create their own.
The short time between idea and proof of concept with DS was extremely enjoyable and while my final instrument is fairly complicated, each stage of the process was very simple.

    An RS5k instrument would be nice. For some reason REAPER users don’t appreciate the potential of creating these and distributing within the community.
