I’ve shown sidechain compression in mixing many times, but never on the Master track. Its a little different, but not complicated. Learn how to control pumping of the master bus with precision.

00:14 - recap of how to sidechain normally
02:29 - adding compressor to master
03:28 - increase channel count of trigger track
04:54 - master sidechain complete
07:14 - other way of routing channels
07:41 - what NOT to do
Usually when sidechaining you create a send to another track on channels 3/4. But you can’t make sends to the master track, because all tracks are already routed there. You just need to increase the number of track channels on the master, and then copy or move the signals for your sidechain trigger to channels 3/4.
For this I like to use the JS: Channel Mapper-Downmixer plugin.

For compression you can use ReaComp or any other plugin with an external sidechain input, such as BX_Townhouse Compressor that I used in the video.
